Chocolate: the irresistible sin of Easter
Passover lamb, children’s laughter, and pealing bells; filled with culinary and family traditions, Easter is fast approaching. In France, it's hard to imagine spending this festive weekend without sampling lots of delicious chocolate eggs. And that’s just perfect, since Paris boasts some of the country’s best chocolate artists!
Christophe Michalak has doubled the treats on offer to satisfy your cravings this year. You’ll find several daring chocolate collections in his shop at 8 rue du Vieux Colombier in Saint-Germain-des-Pres. Fruity, with almonds, or caramelised, these chocolates are specially designed for Easter and made from the best cocoa beans. They’re presented in the form of rockets, candies, or watches, so they’re sure to thrill children of all ages.
Lots of other craftsmen are taking advantage of Easter to show off their skills and unveil their latest creations. Some of the best include Nicolas Haelewyn, for Karamel Paris, and Yann Menguy, for La Goutte d'Or Pâtisserie. You’ll find their shops on the right bank of the river Seine, just a few minutes from the hotel, and their wonderful treats will delight even the most jaded palates. A special mention for the Galler chocolate factory; in association with stylist Jean-Paul Lespagnard, the famous shop has created Easter eggs that are inspired by the world of haute couture. Dressed in boxes reflecting the trends of Parisian fashion, these chocolates are a pleasure for the eyes and the taste buds.
